The Nigeria students will not resume school, after COVID-19 lockdown say ASUU. This was made known by the Chairman of the Union, apart from the previous contentious issue in MOU, The Government are still owing the lecturers two months salary. He said:
"Government has compounded the issue, our member in the federal universities have not been paid for two months. You withheld people's salary and you think such personalities will go back happy??"
Ogunyemi urged the government to declare state of emergency in the educational sector of the country, just like they did in the Health Sector of the country. There's a tendency of the university lecturer continuing the strike after the COVID-19 break. "
Recall that ASUU embarked on two weeks warning strike beforw the pandemic lockdown on the 9th of March, which was later switched to indefinite strike on 23rd March. They embarked on the strike to kick against the IPPIS imposed on them by the Government and also for them to enforce her agreement in 2019 with the Federal Government and the resolution of the union.
